One of Penny’s favorite games is “Fetch”, or as it’s more commonly known around here as…”Keep Away”.

If you happened to pass by our home while a typical game of fetch was going on, it would sound something like this…

“Whooosh” [Sound of ball being thrown]

“Pitter patter, pitter patter…Boooinng…Chomp…!”
[Sound of tiny paws as Penny runs after the ball, jumps and catches it in mid-air]

It’s at this point that Penny will usually run towards me and stop a few feet short, ball in mouth, with a definite mischievous look in her eyes.

I usually have to dig deep into my repertoire of reverse psychology techniques and powers of persuasion in order to try and get her to return the ball back to me.

“Bring the ball…” [Commanding voice]

“Penny, bring the ball…” [Encouraging voice]

“Come on, bring the ball…” [Coaxing voice]

“Hey, Penny…Yoo hoo…” [Attention Getting voice]

“Penny…B-R-I-N-G the ball…!” [Exasperated voice]

Penny will then take a few steps forward and drop the ball in front of her.  No sooner do I stand up and move towards it, then she snatches the ball up with an impish grin before retreating just out of reach.

Now this could easily turn into a never ending game of “chase the dog around the coffee table” were it not for my ultimate secret weapon…

"Ta Daaaa...!"

As much as Penny loves to play “Keep Away”, she loves freshly cut carrots even more.  It’s amazing, just hold a piece in your hand and Penny will bring the ball back and drop it at your feet over and over again, for as long as the carrots hold out.

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear she was part rabbit…!
