Magic Spray…!

I’m generally paranoid when it comes to using sprays and cleaners in our home.  The rule of thumb has always been no pesticides and no chemicals.  I even made it a point to use a popular, supposedly non-toxic cleaner brand, that will remain nameless, for all of our cleaning chores.  We probably would still be using said cleaner if our vet hadn’t recommended using vinegar and water instead.

I did some research online and found out that vinegar and water is an old time recipe for cleaning just about everything in your home.  It’s non-toxic, cheap (you can buy the huge gallon bottles from Costco), and the vinegar smell disappears as it dries.  All you have to do is pour it in a plastic spray bottle diluted 3:1 (3 parts water to 1 part vinegar) and you’re all set.

One unexpected benefit that we discovered is that the vinegar and water mixture makes a great “no-bite” spray.  Whenever Penny would get fixated on an area of carpet or a table leg, we’d just get out the “magic spray” and give a few spritzes and that would be enough to stop her instantly without a lot of muss or fuss.

Penny can be quite persistent when it comes to finding things to nibble on so there were times that our house smelled like the inside of a very big bag of Salt & Vinegar potato chips, but the “magic spray” worked and still works like a charm.
